Lovelies, Bubbles, Bibs,& Babies...

 A few shots of ...Bubbles

 Lovelies...

 Bibs and Babies...

 Opps!! and Moms..

We had a busy weekend but a lot of fun. 20 hrs in the car over 3 days with the hubby was tiring but we love the quiet alone time. One of our drives was through Sharon Springs NY. A town that is close to my husband's home town and being revitalized by some "Amazing" folks. Two being Josh and Brent from Beekman 1802. They were last years winners of the Amazing Race (  have I mentioned this before :-)!) They have a Mercantile in Sharon Springs which features products from all the local area artisans. Beautiful stuff including soaps from McGullicuddy Naturals soaps. The little guy loved the bubble machine Deb turned on for him!! Plus the American Hotel , amazing food and beautiful atmosphere. Sharon Springs was once a huge hot spot back in the the Victorian era known for their hot springs. It is such a beautiful place not far from Cooperstown NY. Take a look at sites and see for your self! If you go make sure to get your Cappuccino and pastry at the Black Cat Cafe
(my pic of the cafe didn't come out). The plan is to move the area one day ,it's one of my favorite places.

Now for the lovelies, My Orchids are blooming and our Cardinal is nesting!! I still cant get over the view we have. I have been staring all morning.

Bibs and Babies, Their is a baby boom in my life. My brother and now a dear friend from high school just had her second and its a girl !! I get to sew for a girl!!! I found this bib dress that was mine as a baby and I am going to try and copy it ..That is what all that great "Liberty of Londonish" fabric that I found at Jo Ann fabric yesterday at 30% off! I was actually shopping for bear and leopard fur for the little guy's school circus costume for Friday. He does NOT like costumes so we sewed the fur onto hooded sweatshirts and added ears to the hood. I still think I am going to have to bribe him to wear it !!

The "boy" fabric is for pillowcases for my Nephews who are coming to visit in few weeks ! I will add some Disney Cars fabric to it.

Mom's..
A Mother's day tea towel I am working on ... I got the embroidery pattern from Karen of the fabulous Graphics Fairy Blog.

Lots of beautiful things don't you think!! I am off to the workroom/basement ( which is so hard on this gorgeous day) to do some work. Lets me know what lovelies have been going on in your world. Would love to here all about it!

See you all Friday for the winner of the giveaway!

A wintry giveaway in Spring ??

Yes, I know it's Spring and we just got rid of the cold ! But I know some of you super organized creative people like to get a jump start on the holiday sewing .

Leave a comment below .... Tell me how you stay in top of holiday creations . I need some inspiration in this area as I usually inundate myself in December with baking and shopping !

The fabrics below are in honor of my lovely Cardinal that is building it's nest right by my window that I mentioned in my last post .

I will be making some fat quarter packs
with these fabrics for a giveaway . I totally see Mug rugs already !! I will post the winners on Friday May 3 .

Well I'm keeping this post short .. . I am in the car driving to Vermont ( well my husband is driving!) to help our second son move into his summer housing . I am blogging from my phone !!
Wow how far I have come with all this
technology !!!

Have a great weekend

So I sat on "pins and needles"

....waiting for my new nephew Sebastian to arrive ...I sewed gifts for days, all sorts of blankets and such. Got the the house ready for my brother and his family...so much so I made my self sick and stressed myself into a kidney infection!!!! ( I have done this before). Well all's well that ends well. I perked up after two days and got to enjoy baby Sebastian. Here he is cuddles up with my oldest and below on my lap in our jammies singing songs.

what a sweet boy our Sebastian is, we miss him so much already ;-(

So while I was sewing for Seb I was getting a itching for making a pin cushion, especially after seeing what Amy from Amy Made That! was up too. You have to check out her Petit Ecole pin cushions ...just fabulous. Now, I did not have time to do anything as elaborate as Amy's, but I just had to make one. Has that every happened to you in the middle of 862 projects going on?! ( btw 862 is always my exaggerated go to number).

So I came up with "Pins and Needles"  cause that is exactly what I felt like waiting for my little guest!
One side for your pins and another for your needles ...cause I am always mixing mine together. I just took an 5 inch square and did that "Thangle" thing with it, ( or draw a line on the diagonal  sew a line 1/4 on each side and cut then cut on the middle line) added a fancy button. Quick, simple and it scratched my itch!

Amy also gave me an inspiration for another give away! She has been doing a Christmas project a month so when the holidays get her she will be ready. I wish I had that ambition...maybe I'll start in July ;-)

So here is a hint below..
This is a nest made by one of our resident Cardinals in our Holly bush. This sits right out my window by our computer desk. This is what I get to  look at while posting ...Beautiful isn't it ! I love the dried Hydrangea petal in the nest.

So the clue ...check back tomorrow and you'll see ...it has to do with Cardinals and winter ...it will make for the best "Holiday" projects. You can get on board with Amy !! Who knows maybe I'll join in!

See you tomorrow,
Donna
